I like to gab. I know a little about a lot of things, more of a horizontal knowledge than a vertical one. You know what I know about best? Myself. Let's see if there's 25 things about me that don't suck.
1. I'm an only child, but my family is huge. My mom has 3 brothers and sisters, Dad has 10 brothers and sisters. I have somewhere around 50 cousins. I'm the oldest one without kids
2. I love alcohol in this order: Bourbon, Wine, cheap beer, good beer.
3. The first time my mom made me laugh/became a "real person," we drove past the church where she and my dad got married and said, "See that son? That's where I committed emotional suicide"
4. It takes a ton of motivation for me to read. I still do it every night, but it's the last thing I want to do.
5. When I kiss someone I'm self-conscious about my mouth because it's big. I worry I'm going to swallow their face
6. Until I was 18, I could put my fist in my mouth.
7. I used to get in fights a lot in my younger days. I'm not particularly violent, but I would never back down and hate being pushed around.
8. For a long time my motivation for success was to spite 5 people. I let go of that anger years ago and can only remember 2 of them. Must not have meant much, huh?
9. I've fallen in love twice. I used to have a crush on a new girl everyday in college... oh girl-in-Bio-101-with-the-purple-jeans. I've mostly got control of those emotional leaps
10. Several months ago I was spinning out after a very traumatic event. I started meditating to gain focus. It's made me calmer, smarter, and more at peace with life.
11. My faith was all but evaporated until my grandmother was dying. When she'd ask if she was going to be with her children, I couldn't tell her I didn't think that would happen. Our priest was one of the few people who would be there when things were saddest.
12. I worked construction from the age of 11 through college. Brick laying/ foundations, HVAC (Heating ventilation and air-conditioning), plumbing, carpentry, and a little electrical (I wont electrocute myself). I want to build my own home someday
13. I love the summer way more than the winter. I like the heat on my skin and the sun in my eyes. Drinking cheap beer in plastic furniture and watching my nieces and nephews run around while the burgers are cooking.
14. When I was a teenager I drank most of my grandpa's liquor with my friends. I learned that filling up whiskey bottles with water is not as effective as vodka bottles with water. He still teases me about it
15. People like my mother more than me.
16. I've only introduced 2 girls I've dated to my parents. One was by accident.
17. I was deadly afraid of going to boarding school, but I did it. I was afraid of college, but knew I had to go. Fear has mostly disappeared because I know I have to do what's necessary to be undeniably great
18. The Wizard of Oz still gets me weepy. Right when Toto jumps over the bridge to get away.
19. I talk to myself a lot. I'm not crazy, but sometimes a thing isn't true to me unless I say it aloud
20. I have a scar on my eyebrow from a fall. I was watching This is It, the Michael Jackson concert film and was dancing along. I was spinning and fell into the corner of the coffee table I woke up covered in blood. The next day I went home for Thanksgiving and had to explain to everyone that I wasn't an idiot, just clumsy.
21. The 1st girl I dated is married with 4 kids. We're actually friends, which is nice. I saw her and met 3 of the kids the last time I went to Pittsburgh.
22. I keep 1 memento from past relationships. It's good to remember the good and bad times. These things actually happened.
23. When my little cousin moved to Missouri on her own I got her a pair of size 15 sneakers to keep outside her apartment door to scare any creepy guys off.
24. my dad never saw me wrestle one match and never saw me play one down of football. I played both to impress him. After learning about each sport, mom was almost always in the stands, cheering me on and yelling out tips.
25. I've had 3 perfect days. I mean so great that I feel like they happened to someone else. Once in 1996, once in 2000, and once in 2010. There've been a lot of amazing days, but these are the ones that I'll remember forever
